Dr. Michael Felfernig is an internationally recognized Medical Director with over 15 years of executive leadership experience across global healthcare systems. With a distinguished career spanning more than 20 countries, he brings unparalleled expertise in remote site medicine, critical care, and pre-hospital emergency medicine, positioning him as a key authority in complex and high-risk medical environments.
Holding an MD from the Medical University of Vienna and advanced qualifications including an MBA in Healthcare, MSc in Telemedicine, and MSc in Maritime Health, Dr. Felfernig combines clinical excellence with strategic healthcare leadership. He also serves as Professor of Remote Site Medicine at Sigmund Freud University Vienna, contributing to the advancement of medical education and the development of future healthcare professionals.
Throughout his career, he has led and transformed medical operations across hospitals, offshore environments, and large-scale corporate healthcare systems. His achievements include pioneering telemedicine solutions in offshore West Africa, directing complex air ambulance operations, and establishing incident command centres in high-demand environments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he successfully implemented large-scale public health strategies across more than 150 medical sites—overseeing millions of diagnostic procedures and mass vaccination initiatives.
A respected leader in international remote site and maritime medicine, Dr. Felfernig is also an accomplished academic and researcher, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications. His ability to align clinical excellence with operational strategy has enabled him to build strong partnerships with global organizations, including major oil and gas companies, NGOs, and governmental bodies.
